Choosing the Appropriate Statistical Methods for Data Analysis in a Research: A Solution to the Puzzle Faced by Beginners

Abstract

Choosing the appropriate statistical method to be employed in the analysis of data collected for a given research has remained a puzzle to many researchers most especially beginners. This paper provided, in a simple and clear form, a guide in the selection of statistical methods for analysis. The paper highlighted the factors to be considered in the selection of a statistical method for research data analysis and also gave the statistical methods that are appropriate for some research hypothesized problem situations. Schedules that can aid beginners in the selection of statistical methods to be employed in research for each analysis situation were also provided.
